Deptford Township, NJ — 22nd January — Cover companies were notified of a reported house fire in the afternoon while they were covering Deptford Township. When Westville's Engine 41 and Rescue 738 arrived on the site simultaneously, they saw smoke coming from a single-family home. When Rescue 738 arrived inside, they discovered a bedroom fire. Engine 41 put out the fire by extending a handline into the building. Crews verified the fire was restricted to the room of origin, finished ventilation, and examined the area for extension. As a precaution, utilities were secured, and then overhaul activities took place. There were no recorded injuries to firefighters or civilians. The Clayton Fire Company, based at 107 W. High Street, responded to the event.
