WHITMAN, MASSACHUSETTS (PLYMOUTH COUNTY) - Just before 2100 hours on the evening of Tuesday, January 16, 2024 the Whitman Fire Department struck a box for a reported chimney fire at 85 Apollo Road. Due to the ambulance being in use, a mutual aid ladder company from Abington was requested. Their Tower-1 responded, along with Whitman Engine-243 and Car-3. Companies arrived to find an active chimney fire in a 1.5-story wood framed dwelling. Crews checked the interior of the building and found the fire was contained to the chimney. Abington's tower crew stretched to the roof and utilized a misting tool to extinguish the chimney fire. No injuries were reported.
