January 15, 2026 — A potential dwelling fire in the Dorothy section of Weymouth Township was safely brought under control Tuesday evening after firefighters discovered an active chimney fire fueled by creosote buildup. At approximately 8:13 p.m., Station 12-7 of the Dorothy Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched following a report of a residential fire. Engine 1272 arrived on scene and identified an active fire within the chimney system. Firefighters promptly disassembled the stove pipe and chimney cap to access the source of the fire and deployed a chimney chain to remove accumulated creosote. The incident was placed under control within 30 minutes, with no extension beyond the chimney and no additional damage to the residence. A total of 10 members responded with three engines and an ambulance, with assistance provided by Stations 12-4 and 12-5. No injuries were reported.
