At approximately 3:21 p.m. on December 31st, the Bogota Fire Department was dispatched to the concrete plant on West Fort Lee Road for a reported structure fire. Car 3 communicated a working fire assignment after arriving to discover smoke coming from the rear maintenance shop.

Engine 1 extended an attack line into the building and placed around 500 feet of supply line from a hydrant. Firefighters found a boiler fire and swiftly put it out. In order to verify that the fire was contained within the unit, crews opened the area to look for an extension. To finish overhauling and repackaging equipment, businesses stayed on the scene for almost two hours. There were no reported injuries. The Bogota incident Prevention Bureau is looking into what caused the incident. Quick action by plant employees using fire extinguishers, along with the rapid response of the Bogota Fire Department, helped limit damage. Mutual aid companies assisted on scene and provided coverage at the firehouse during the incident.
