According to National Weather Service forecasts, the Pleasantville Fire Department is warning locals to get ready for a stretch of hazardous winter weather that is predicted to affect the area through the weekend and into early next week. From Friday night through Saturday morning, there is a Cold Weather Advisory in place, with wind chills predicted to plunge between minus 10 and zero degrees. For those who are exposed for prolonged periods of time, these conditions raise the danger of hypothermia and frostbite. Additionally, from Saturday night through Monday afternoon, a Winter Storm Watch is in force. Particularly along the coast, there may be bouts of sleet or freezing rain along with widespread snowfall of 8 to 18 inches. Road closures and power shortages could make travel dangerous. Limiting travel, preparing homes and cars, keeping emergency supplies on hand, and checking on vulnerable neighbors are all suggested. The Pleasantville Fire Department keeps an eye on the situation and gets resources ready as needed.
