On January 5, at around 4:41 p.m., the Pleasantville Fire Department responded to a reported building fire at the Pleasantville Recreation Center. When Battalion 3 got on the site, there was little visible fire and only mild smoke. Using the first staff on the site, crews quickly investigated the fire, found its source, and contained and put it out. Off-duty personnel were brought in to supply extra labor because of the location and type of occupancy. Mutual aid assistance was requested from the Northfield Fire Department, Linwood Fire Department, South Jersey Transportation Authority Fire Department, and Absecon Fire Department.
