Beach Haven, NJ — January 17— Benjamin Franklin's 320th birthday and his enduring influence on the American fire service were honored by the Beach Haven Volunteer Fire Company, situated at 300 Amber Street. Franklin assisted in founding Philadelphia's first organized volunteer fire company in 1736. This initial endeavor encouraged coordinated action, shared accountability, and an emphasis on prevention. The fire department still adheres to many of same values today, such as coordinated operations, community involvement, and volunteerism. The service and readiness paradigm that started almost three centuries ago is being used by fire departments nationwide. The agency stated that firefighters' training, response, and community protection are still influenced by Franklin's achievements. His legacy continues to be a fundamental component of the contemporary fire department.
