Fire Does Significant Damage to Mastic Beach Home

MASTIC BEACH, NY - On January 15th just after 9:15 P.M., the Suffolk County Emergency Dispatch Center began receiving calls for a residential structure fire on Maple Rd., east of Lincoln Dr. Mastic Beach FD and Ambulance Company were immediately dispatched to the call.
Mastic Beach FD ex-Chief and current Safety Officer, Carlo Grover (5-13-23), was first en route, and shortly before pulling up he was advised that EMS was on scene reporting active fire. He reactivated the department for a working fire and requested mutual aid to be started. On arrival the first due crew began to pull hoses to make a quick attack. A water source was also secured at the hydrant. On his arrival, 2nd Assistant Chief Luis Grego assumed command of the incident. The fire was knocked down shortly after and crews went to work overhauling.
Mastic Beach EMS had requested their mutual aid departments of Mastic and Shirley Ambulance to assist with support and rehab at the scene. No firefighters or civilians were injured. It was reported some pets may have been injured or killed, however this could not be confirmed by officials. The scene was turned over to the Brookhaven Fire Marshal's Office for investigation.
