MANNINGTON, NJ — December 26 — Due to a reported building fire in a seven-unit strip mall, the Mannington Fire Company was called to the TD Bank on East Broadway. When the chief and Engine 6 arrived together, they saw that there was no visibility through the front windows on the D-side and that smoke was pushing from the rooftop.
While other companies were assigned to the roof, crews entered through the front. A handline was used to put out the fire, which was found in a rear utility and break room. For almost two hours, overhaul and ventilation operations were carried out from the roof. No casualties were reported, and the fire was contained to the original tenancy. Along with EMS, mutual aid organizations helped with support and suppression.
