Fire Crews Control Duplex Fire on East Lincoln Avenue in Wildwood

January 16th — Wildwood, NJ: The first-alarm assignment was sent to the 100 block of East Lincoln Avenue shortly before 1:30 p.m. due to a reported house fire. Chief 3 of the City of Wildwood Fire Department arrived at the scene and stated that smoke was coming from a two-story duplex.

In less than two minutes, Squad Company 3 (B Platoon) arrived and started looking for the fire's seat. Soon after, Ladder Company 2 of the North Wildwood Fire Department arrived and helped with operations. Crews had to open the flooring in both apartments in order to access the fire, which was in the crawlspace and floor area between the two flats. In around twenty minutes, the fire was contained.

Wildwood Crest Volunteer Fire Department (Tower 4), Rio Grande Fire Company (Quint 72), Stone Harbor Volunteer Fire Company #1, Villas Fire Company (Quint 60), and Stone Harbor Firefighters FMBA 151 (Engine 13) all offered mutual aid. Middle Township Ambulance Corps provided rehabilitation services, while Wildwood Crest EMS supplied EMS support.

Wildwood Public Works treated the road because of the icy conditions, while Atlantic City Electric, South Jersey Gas, and the Wildwood Water Department responded to secure utilities. Scene control was aided by the City of Wildwood Police Department. No injuries were reported, and fire units operated on scene for approximately 1.5 hours. The incident remains under investigation by the WFD Fire Investigation Unit and the Cape May County Fire Marshal’s Office.
