Berkeley Heights, NJ — December 23 — The New Providence Volunteer Fire Department and the Berkeley Heights Fire Department, located at 411 Hamilton Avenue, responded to a reported truck fire at the intersection of Diamond Hill Road and Mountain Avenue.
When both agencies' fire crews arrived, they discovered a working car fire. In order to stop additional damage and dangers in the region, crews extended handlines and put out the fire. Firefighters used absorbent booms to confine runoff from suppression efforts and lower the risk of contaminating neighboring waterways when the fire was under control. Since fuel and automotive fluids are frequently involved in vehicle fires, environmental protection is a crucial component of the response. Effective mutual aid coordination, scene management, and the significance of safeguarding nearby infrastructure during roadway fire operations were all brought to light by the tragedy.
