WALPACK TOWNSHIP, NJ - On January 19th, a suspected RV camper fire prompted the Sandyston Township Fire Department Station 38 to go to Walpack Township. A first-alarm assignment resulted from reports that ranged from a camper fire to a potential residential structure fire while Engine 38-2 was on its way, according to Sussex County Sheriff's 911.

Because of the inconsistent information and travel distance, Frankford, Milford, and Montague were asked for more engines and tankers. When crews arrived, they discovered a fully engaged camper about 30-feet from a house, several cars close by, and a 250-gallon propane tank starting to catch fire.

In a matter of minutes, firefighters extended an initial handline and put out the majority of the fire, preventing it from spreading to the house. Units worked with EMS and law enforcement.
