Lafayette Township, NJ — January 19 — The Lafayette Township Volunteer Fire Department, located at 126 State Route 15, continued their training operations despite the cold. A vehicle extrication training program aimed at strengthening skills, teamwork, and operational safety in winter circumstances was recently completed by firefighters.
While operating in cold conditions, which can impact equipment performance and responder dexterity, crews went over vehicle stabilization, patient access, and coordinated tool use. Since significant car accidents happen all year round, regardless of the temperature, training under these settings is representative of real-world response environments. In order to retain proficiency and lower on-scene risk, fire department training guidelines place a strong emphasis on frequent, practical drills. Lafayette firefighters stay ready to respond to crises on nearby roads in a safe and efficient manner by maintaining their organized training throughout the winter.
