Andover Township, N.J. — December 19th — Newton Sparta Road near the viaduct was closed, according to the Andover Township Volunteer Fire Department, because there were several trees across the road. In order to securely address dangers and start removal activities, the closure was put in place.

While conditions were being evaluated, firefighters arrived to secure the area and manage traffic. During the closure, drivers were instructed to utilize Lawrence Road or Limecrest Road as alternate routes. Public works and local law enforcement helped with cleanup and scene safety. It was recommended that drivers stay away from the region, take the designated detours, and keep an eye out for any changes in the weather. Until workers could safely remove the rubble and allow traffic to resume, the road remained closed.
