Watchung, N.J. — December 18th — Following the death of former chief Richard Connolly Jr., the Watchung Fire Department offers their sympathies to the Green Brook Fire Department. Chief Connolly gained the respect of the local fire service by serving his department and community for many years.

He was renowned for his consistent leadership, dedication to training, and support of firemen at all levels both as Chief and as an active member. His work promoted collaboration between adjacent divisions and strengthened operations. Along with the Green Brook Fire Department, Chief Connolly's family, and the larger emergency services community, members of the Watchung Fire Department acknowledge a profession characterized by service, accountability, and commitment to others.
