December 26, 2025 — The Burlington Fire Department responded to reports of smoke inside a multifamily residence at 365 St. Paul Street shortly after 6:26 p.m., arriving on scene within four minutes. Initial investigation found no visible fire, however the caller reported smoke throughout the building, believed to be originating from an apartment on the first floor. Firefighters encountered heavy heat and smoke conditions upon entry and deployed an attack line, upgrading the incident to a working structure fire. Crews located and extinguished a small fire in a bathroom that had extended into the attic, prompting the activation of a second alarm. The fire was quickly brought under control and confined to the apartment of origin and attic space, aided by the building’s fire separation features. The apartment was vacant at the time and had working smoke detectors. Two apartments were displaced due to fire and smoke damage, while the remaining units were deemed safe for reoccupation. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Burlington Fire Marshal’s Office. No injuries were reported.
