Basking Ridge, New Jersey — 8th January — With an average of more than two replies each day, the Basking Ridge Fire Co. No. 1 & EMS responded to 761 service requests. Fire, emergency medical services, and service-related calls were among the incidents that occurred in the town.
Members continued to participate in public service activities outside of emergency response. Crews sponsored a number of long-standing community events, staffed standby assignments at Ridge and Pingry football games, and taught local students about fire safety. The department is entirely volunteer-run, and its members devote a substantial amount of time to outreach, response, and training. By staying prepared and helping the communities they serve all year long, volunteer fire and emergency medical services continue to play a crucial role in public safety.
