Basking Ridge, NJ — 20th December — A second-floor smoke detector activation was reported in a FIRE ALARM call, which prompted the Basking Ridge Fire Company No. 1 & EMS to react. An automatic alert from the building's fire alarm system prompted the summoning of fire and emergency medical services.
Firefighters searched the second-floor area methodically after arriving and checked the fire alarm control panel to validate the triggered zone. During the investigation, crews discovered no signs of smoke, fire, or dangerous circumstances. It was concluded that the activation was not an emergency. Activations of second-floor smoke detectors are taken carefully since they may be a sign of an impending fire. While firefighters cleared the area and put the units back into action, EMS staff stayed on standby to make sure the facility was secure.
