Basking Ridge Crews Handle Transformer Fire Incident

Basking Ridge, NJ — 19th December — A reported TRANSFRMER FIRE call in the township prompted the Basking Ridge Fire Co. No. 1 & EMS to react. Reports of a fire involving electrical utility equipment prompted the dispatch of fire and emergency medical services.
When firefighters arrived, they set up a secure perimeter and evaluated the situation from a distance. In order to control the risks involved with powered equipment, crews worked in tandem with the local electric utility. They also kept an eye out for any extensions or secondary difficulties. There were no reported injuries. Because transformer fires pose electrical threats, utility companies and fire agencies must work together. Public safety and scene safety are prioritized in the handling of these occurrences. Responding units were cleared and put back into service when the incident had been settled and secured.
