Basking Ridge, NJ — 16th December — A reported MV FIRE: tire on fire call in the township prompted the Basking Ridge Fire Co. No. 1 & EMS to react. Following complaints of smoke coming from a car on a nearby road, fire and emergency medical services were called.

When crews arrived, they verified that a passenger car had a small tire fire. After putting out the fire and stretching a handline, firefighters examined the car to see if any nearby parts were affected. No injuries were reported, and the issue was swiftly under control. Mechanical failure, overheating brakes, or debris coming into contact with hot surfaces are common causes of car tire fires. Fire agencies emphasize how crucial it is to stop safely and dial 911 as soon as you see smoke or a fire.
