January 1, 2025 — The Nobleboro Fire and Rescue is inviting community members to consider a new adventure in the new year by joining the volunteer fire service. The department responds to approximately 150 to 200 calls each year, providing critical services ranging from emergency medical responses to structure fires and many other emergencies in between.
Department officials emphasized that no prior experience is required, as all training and equipment are provided, and members earn a stipend for both training and calls. A Basic Fire course is planned to begin within the next two months, making now an ideal time for interested residents to get involved. Opportunities are also available for individuals with commercial driver’s licenses who may wish to support operations without serving as interior firefighters.
Prospective members must be able to pass a basic physical and background check and be willing to become part of a dedicated team. Fire officials noted that while not every member is expected to respond to every call, the goal is to maintain enough trained volunteers to ensure a reliable response at all times of day. Training is held every Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., and community members are welcome to stop by to learn more. Those interested may also reach out directly to Bradbury for additional information.
