January 15, 2026 — Alna Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched at 1:52 p.m. for a reported structure/garage fire in Alna. Seven firefighters responded with Trucks 1, 2, and 3, arriving to find a fire involving a stack of stored items inside the garage. Crews made a quick interior entry and were able to rapidly knock down the fire, preventing further spread.

Mutual aid assistance was provided by Jefferson Fire & Rescue, Newcastle Fire Company Inc., Whitefield Fire Department, and Wiscasset Fire Department, along with the Wiscasset Ambulance Service. Investigation determined the fire was caused by a hot garden tractor that ignited nearby materials after being driven into the garage.

Damage to the structure was minimal. One resident was evaluated on scene by Wiscasset EMS and was not injured. Firefighters conducted checks for extension and performed smoke evacuation before clearing the scene at approximately 3:20 p.m. Alna Fire thanked neighboring departments for their assistance and coordinated response.
