December 21, 2025 — Thomaston Fire and EMS responded during the evening hours to a reported chimney fire with flames visible from the top of the chimney. Engine 3, Ladder 2, Thomaston Ambulance, and Car 1 arrived on scene, where crews accessed the roof to remove the chimney cap and extinguish the fire.
Firefighters confirmed the fire was contained to the chimney with no extension into the residence. Chimney chains were used to remove burning debris, and further investigation revealed a burned-through liner with melted insulation. Crews cooled and removed the damaged insulation before securing the scene.
Department officials credited strong teamwork and coordinated operations for safely mitigating the incident.
