Second-Alarm Fire Displaces Nine on Chase Avenue in Waterville

January 14, 2026 — At approximately 3:15 a.m., Waterville Fire-Rescue responded to a reported structure fire at 12 Chase Avenue. On arrival, firefighters encountered a two-story single-family residence with heavy fire showing. The on-duty Battalion Chief immediately struck a second alarm, bringing additional mutual aid resources to the scene.
Crews were able to achieve a quick knockdown of the fire; however, the home sustained significant fire and water damage. Nine family members were displaced, and one occupant was transported to the emergency department for treatment of smoke inhalation. The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced family.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Waterville Fire-Rescue expressed appreciation to assisting agencies, including Winslow Fire Department, Fairfield Benton Emergency Services, Oakland Fire Rescue, Skowhegan Fire Department, Delta Ambulance, Waterville Police Department, and Waterville Public Works.
