River Edge Swears In 2024 FD Officers

Besides swearing in new officers, young recruits and veteran firefighters were also recognized during the ceremony. Chief Schlossberg also stressed continuous training for the department.

RIVER EDGE, NJ - Area firefighters, local officials, family and friends assembled at St. Peter's Academy on January 1st to wish the newly sworn in volunteer fire officers their best for a safe and healthy future.
Robert Schlossberg was sworn in as the new Chief of Department. This was not just a ceremony for the promotion of fire officers. Chief Schlossberg recognized the new members that have joined the volunteer department to serve their community in a noble fashion. He also presented new helmet front shields to members that competed their probationary status.
In addition, George J. O'Connel, Jr. was recognized for his 50-years of service to the department and community.
"We do it because we care, said Chief Schlossberg. "We do it because we want to.”
Along with the chief, the 2024 officers are: Assistant Chief Greg Cariddi; Deputy Chief Eric Schultz; Captains William Sanders and John Mauthe, Jr.; and Lieutenants Ben Silver, John Farelli, Seth Hanauer and James Carroll.
