On January 5th, firefighters assigned to Unit 4 from the Andover Fire Rescue conducted ice rescue training at Dug Pond. The yearly training concentrated on going over and reiterating the methods and strategies needed to carry out rescues on ice-covered water safely. In order to guarantee responder safety, crews trained operating in cold weather, utilising specialised equipment, and cooperating as a team. Because conditions on nearby ponds and rivers can change fast, department officials stated that ice rescue training is an essential winter skill. To keep the entire department prepared for winter-related incidents, all Andover Fire Rescue personnel are expected to finish this training for the rest of the month.
