January 6, 2026 — Foster Center Volunteer Fire Company marked an important milestone just prior to its monthly business meeting as several members were issued brand-new turnout gear. The initial three sets represent the beginning of the department’s transition to non-PFAS protective equipment, a significant step aimed at reducing firefighters’ exposure to harmful, cancer-causing chemicals historically associated with traditional turnout gear. Department officials said the investment underscores a continued commitment to the health, safety, and long-term well-being of its volunteers who serve the community.
The Foster Center Volunteer Fire Company also acknowledged its partnership with Ricochet Gear as the department moves toward a safer future for its members.
