January 5, 2026— Jamestown Volunteer Fire Department responded on mutual aid at 11:16 a.m. after Engine 1 and Ladder 1 were dispatched, along with Chief 1, to the Newport for a second-alarm building fire on Sherman Street. Jamestown crews arrived on scene and assisted the Newport Fire Department and other out-of-town companies with operations before being released.
Following clearance from the fire scene, Engine 1 was redirected to provide station coverage at Newport Station 1 on West Marlborough Street, while Ladder 1 covered Station 2 on Old Fort Road. While assigned to coverage, Jamestown units responded to multiple additional incidents within the city, including a reported vehicle fire on Eustis Avenue and a master box alarm on Bellevue Avenue. Engine 1 and Ladder 1 returned to Jamestown at approximately 2:30 p.m.
Fire officials commended all personnel involved for their coordinated efforts and professionalism during the extended mutual aid assignment.
