The South Windsor Fire Department, together with the Manchester Ambulance Service and the South Windsor Police Department, responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Ellington Road and the Four Corners area at around 1:30 p.m. on Christmas Day. An SUV and a passenger van were involved in the incident. Before landing on its side, the SUV is thought to have rolled two or three times. Before emergency personnel arrived, the driver, the only person inside the SUV, self-extricated and was assessed for minor injuries. Engine 3 dealt with the passenger van, while South Windsor Squad 2 worked at the SUV. Car 10 helped Fire Police 9 with traffic management.
