December 18, 2025 — Lewiston Fire Department firefighters responded to three separate building fires across the city on December 18, keeping crews busy throughout the day. The first incident occurred at Country Lane Estates and was determined to be accidental, caused by an unattended candle.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, limiting damage, and no injuries were reported. The second fire, a one-alarm blaze on Russell Street, resulted in one firefighter sustaining minor injuries; the firefighter was treated at Central Maine Medical Center and later released. The cause of that fire remains under investigation.
The third incident took place on Lincoln Street and was also a one-alarm fire. No injuries were reported, and investigators determined the cause to be a woodstove. Department officials noted the responses highlight the importance of fire safety and credited crews for their quick and effective actions throughout a demanding day.
