January 5, 2026 — Durham Fire & Rescue announced the addition of EMT/Engineer Kevin Merrill as the department’s first full-time emergency medical services provider. Department officials said the milestone strengthens EMS coverage and enhances service to the community. Merrill is scheduled to be formally sworn in during the Durham Select Board meeting on January 13 at 6:30 p.m., and residents are invited to attend the ceremony to welcome him to his new role.
