On January 1, at 4:43 a.m., Botsford Fire Rescue received its first call of 2026 for a car accident on Blue Spruce Drive that resulted in injuries. The car veered off the road, flew for about fifty-two feet, and collided with a stone pillar. Engine 551 crews secured the area and contained a fluid discharge. Patient care and transport were handled by Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps along with a medic unit. The patient's injuries were thought to be minor to severe when they were sent to Danbury Hospital. Vehicle removal was completed by MODZ Squad 4. Responders noted that the stop sign on Blue Spruce Drive was knocked down during the crash and will require replacement.
