January 10, 2026— During the evening hours, volunteers from the Westerly Fire Department responded on mutual aid to Watch Hill for a first-alarm commercial structure fire. Engine 1 and Ladder 1 were dispatched and staged along Lighthouse Road while fireground operations were underway.
Crews remained on standby until being cleared by command without incident. While units were operating outside the district, additional volunteers staffed both Station 1 and Station 2 in Westerly to ensure continued coverage for any local emergencies. Department officials thanked their members for their dedication and encouraged anyone interested in serving the community to reach out and learn more about becoming a volunteer firefighter.
