Coordinated Response at Route 41 and Houghton Hill Road

HOMER, NY — December 9 — The Homer Fire Department, situated at 45 S Main St., Homer, New York, was called to the intersection of Route 41 and Houghton Hill Road in response to a complaint of a car in a ditch with a trapped occupant and a potential vehicle fire.


Before firefighters could arrive, the motorist was successfully released by the County Sheriff's Office. While in route, responding firemen received updates and modified their assignments. Crews assessed for fire dangers, secured the car, and helped with scene safety as soon as they arrived. Traffic management was put in place to safeguard responders on the road while emergency medical workers assessed the motorist. During a winter traffic response in a rural area, the incident demonstrated efficient cooperation between law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services.
