Milton, New Jersey — December 21 — A reported structure fire at 138 Schoolhouse Road in the Milton portion of the township prompted the response of Jefferson Township Fire Company #2, Jefferson Township Fire Company #1, and the Milton First Aid Squad. Reports of flames visible through the ceiling prompted the quick setting off of a second alarm.

When Jefferson Chief 730 arrived, they saw a single-story ranch with a large fire that extended into the roof area and involved the garage. The fire was contained by the first teams using two-inch and inch-and-three-quarter handlines. The house was severely damaged, but all of its occupants had safely left. The Hardyston Township Volunteer Fire Department, WMFD Company 2, and the Picatinny Arsenal Fire Department all offered mutual help.
