The Tunkhannock Township Volunteer Fire Company Station 42 responded to a car collision on Interstate 80 inside the township just after 10:30 a.m. on January 6. Rescue 42, Engine 42-1, Utility 42, and Traffic 42 were among the units that responded, along with Pocono Mountain Regional Emergency Medical Services. Before resolving the situation, firefighters and EMS teams worked on the scene for almost two and a half hours, managing patient care, scene safety, and traffic control. Station 42 reminded locals that volunteer fire departments depend on community support to continue offering emergency services beyond the response. The department is presently hiring for administrative, operational, EMS support, and fundraising positions. Training and equipment are provided, so no prior experience is necessary.
