Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Freezing Rain Across Northeast Pennsylvania
December 27, 2025 – A Winter Weather Advisory was issued by the National Weather Service Binghamton at 12:35 p.m. on December 27 and remains in effect until 4:00 a.m. Monday, December 29. The advisory includes much of northeast Pennsylvania, including Luzerne, Lackawanna, Wyoming, Bradford, Pike, Susquehanna, and Wayne counties, as well as portions of southern New York. Forecasters are calling for freezing rain beginning Sunday afternoon and continuing overnight, with ice accumulations around two-tenths of an inch possible, especially in higher elevations where temperatures are expected to remain below freezing longer. Officials warn that travel conditions could become difficult and that power outages are possible due to ice buildup on trees and power lines. While lower elevations such as the Wyoming Valley and deeper river valleys may see reduced ice accumulation, motorists are urged to slow down, use caution while traveling, and adjust speeds to roadway conditions as winter weather impacts the region.
