Winter Weather Advisory Updated for Nanticoke Area
December 25, 2025 – Nanticoke City Fire Department, working with the City of Nanticoke and Nanticoke Firefighters IAFF Local 2655, issued an update regarding a Winter Weather Advisory released by the National Weather Service Binghamton. The advisory was issued at 12:54 p.m. on December 25 and remains in effect until 7:00 a.m. Saturday, December 27, for portions of northeast Pennsylvania, including Luzerne, Wyoming, and Bradford counties, as well as Chemung and Steuben counties in New York. Forecasters expect snow with total snow and sleet accumulations between two and five inches, beginning early Friday afternoon and continuing into Saturday morning, with sleet mixing in by Friday evening. Officials warned that slippery road conditions are likely and could impact the Friday evening commute, urging motorists to slow down, use caution while traveling, and adjust speeds based on roadway conditions as winter weather affects the region.
