Nanticoke City Fire Department Shares Wind Advisory for Northeast Pennsylvania

December 17, 2025 – Nanticoke City Fire Department, in coordination with the City of Nanticoke and Nanticoke Firefighters IAFF Local 2655, issued a public safety notice regarding a Wind Advisory released by the National Weather Service Binghamton. The advisory was issued at 12:37 p.m. on December 17 and remains in effect from 7 p.m. Thursday until 1 a.m. Saturday, December 20. Forecasters expect southwest winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts reaching up to 50 mph across portions of central New York and northeast Pennsylvania, including Luzerne County. Officials warned that strong winds could blow around unsecured objects, down tree limbs, and cause isolated power outages, with the highest winds expected over hilltops and ridge areas. Motorists, especially those operating high-profile vehicles, are urged to use extra caution during the advisory period.
