Mocanaqua Firefighters Establish Fill Site to Support Hemlock Springs House Fire

January 3, 2026 – On Saturday morning, Mocanaqua Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, Station 118, was dispatched at the request of Summer Hill Fire Company to establish a water fill site along South Mountain Road at Ridge Runners Pond in Salem Township. The assignment supported fire suppression operations at a fully involved residential structure fire in the Hemlock Springs area. Engine 118 crews set up drafting operations in freezing conditions, providing a sustained water supply to assisting companies battling heavy fire conditions. Firefighters operated for several hours to maintain water flow and support on-scene suppression efforts. No injuries were reported among responding crews. Information provided by Mocanaqua Volunteer Fire Company No. 1. The department also extended thanks to Food Express of Shickshinny for providing coffee to volunteers during the morning operations.
