January 3, 2026 – On Saturday morning, Mocanaqua Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, Station 118, was dispatched at the request of Summer Hill Fire Company to establish a water fill site along South Mountain Road at Ridge Runners Pond in Salem Township. The assignment supported fire suppression operations at a fully involved residential structure fire in the Hemlock Springs area. Engine 118 crews set up drafting operations in freezing conditions, providing a sustained water supply to assisting companies battling heavy fire conditions. Firefighters operated for several hours to maintain water flow and support on-scene suppression efforts. No injuries were reported among responding crews.
