January 1, 2026 – Shortly after midnight on New Year’s Day, Mocanaqua Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 was dispatched to a third-alarm structure fire in Nescopeck Borough. Engine 1 responded with a crew of six firefighters, who upon arrival were assigned as the first-due Rapid Intervention Team (RIT). Crews stood by to ensure firefighter safety while multiple companies worked to contain heavy fire conditions that had extended through the structure.
