Paterson, NJ - Paterson firefighters were able to rescue a trapped resident as flames tore through a home on December 31, 2020.

At 4:29 A.M., a first-alarm assignment was sent to 222 E. 30th St., just off of Broadway, for a reported fire. On arrival, heavy fire was venting out the 'D' side on the second floor, severely threatening the exposure building. A second-alarm was transmitted.

A 58-year-old woman was visible on the second floor with no way out. A ground ladder from Ladder Co. 3 was raised and the woman was safely removed. The vinyl siding on the exposure building melted and the exposed wood began to ignite. An exposure line was put into operation and a line was stretched to the second floor which minimized the extension.

Flames in the original fire building extended into the attic. The interior attack soon had the bulk of the fire knocked down. Overhaul commenced and the fire was placed under control in about one hour. There were no reported injuries.
