Nicole Farris, a firefighter with the Rochester Fire Department, has achieved a significant career milestone by passing the Pro Board Firefighter II certification.
The National Fire Protection Association's national standard for firefighter professional qualifications, NFPA 1001, outlines the work performance standards that serve as the foundation for Firefighter II certification. Beyond the Firefighter I level, the certification attests to a firefighter's demonstration of the knowledge and practical abilities required to work safely and successfully as a member of a firefighting team under general supervision.
The Pennsylvania Office of the State Fire Commissioner administers the advanced volunteer Firefighter II certification, which is recognized by the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications.
