On December 13, amid a snowfall, the Moon Run Volunteer Fire Company's rescue unit and chief responded to a two-alarm fire in McKees Rocks via mutual assistance. Because to the snow-covered roadways, crews had to move slowly and carefully. Although it was difficult to get to the location and set up a water supply, operations were modified to fit the circumstances. To aid in suppression operations, firefighters collaborated with other responding units.
