On December 18, Huntingdon Regional Fire & Rescue observed a moment of remembrance to celebrate John Dearmitt's life and service, acknowledging his contributions and the influence he had on the community.

Members came together to offer their condolences to his family and loved ones while pausing to think. Truck 65 and Quint 1 formed an archway of respect during the celebration by flying a giant American flag over Route 305 as part of the homage.

The Huntingdon Regional Fire & Rescue Honor Guard Detachment's involvement in providing ceremonial services for slain firefighters was also acknowledged by the department. In addition to providing assistance to families during times of loss, these services are held to guarantee that members are recognized with decency and respect.
