Late on December 27th, Truck 42 and Engine 43 responded to a reported garage fire on East Grandview Avenue. At around 9:30 p.m., Engine 43 with three firefighters from the West Leisenring Fire Department arrived after Truck 42 with six workers. Company 9 of the Mercersburg Fire Department arrived and verified that there was a working fire in a garage that extended into the house. While one crew entered the roof to cut a ventilation aperture, Truck 42 personnel were assigned inside operations to open up and check for extension. To aid with suppression operations, Engine 43 moved a handline into the building and established a backup water supply. Firefighters operated on scene for nearly two hours before units returned to quarters on West King Street. No injuries were reported.
