On December 30, at before 7:30 a.m., six members of Franklin Fire Company's Truck 42 responded to a reported chimney fire on Duffield Road in Guilford Township. When personnel arrived, they discovered that the fire was contained to the chimney's flue. In order to stop creosote accumulation and debris from extending into the structure, firefighters gained access to the chimney system. Without the fire spreading further, the situation was contained. After nearly an hour of operations, the site was secured. Damage was restricted to the chimney region, and no casualties were recorded.
