The Fair Lawn Fire Department has a customary command change at the beginning of each year. Chief Ralph Rinaldo was honored by the department for his tenure as Chief of the Department. After serving in Company 4 for 40 years, Rinaldo finished his second term as chief. Under his direction, department officials reported a successful year. Rinaldo will continue to serve the department as a Battalion Chief in 2026, continuing to be a member of the leadership team even though he is leaving his position as chief.

Effective January 1, 2026, Chief Michael Salvini assumed command of the department. Salvini is a 26-year member assigned to Company 3 and is serving his second term as Chief of the Department. Officers and members of the Fair Lawn Fire Department extended New Year’s wishes to the community and emphasized their continued commitment to service and safety in the year ahead.
