Perth Amboy, NJ — December 5 — A reported structure fire in the 700 block of Parker Street prompted the Perth Amboy Fire Department to react. When units arrived, they saw fire and smoke coming from a residential home's attic. While primary searches and ventilation were carried out throughout the building, crews swiftly controlled the fire in the room of origin by stretching two hoselines. There were no reported injuries. Residents who were displaced by the fire received assistance from the American Red Cross and city relocation officers. The department's Fire Investigation Unit is still looking into the reason. Because of the low weather, the City of Perth Amboy Department of Public Works salted the road. Engines 1, 2, and 4, Truck 2, Rescue 1, and Chiefs 1, 2, and 5 were among the units present.
