The Philadelphia Fire Department responded to almost 2,000 emergency situations around the city on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Dispatchers, firemen, and medics covered a number of major special events in addition to regular emergency calls. These included the yearly Mummers Parade, the Delaware River shoreline, and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

Fire department resources were positioned throughout the city to support public safety and ensure timely responses during periods of increased activity. Units operated in coordination with other public safety agencies to manage calls for service while maintaining coverage for planned events.
